Good friend Lea Prainsack is post supervising what looks to be an awesome slab of work called ‘Stingray Sam’. Made by the folks behind ‘The American Astronaut’, this thing looks amazing. Maybe a little looser and slicker than ‘AA’?

So… ‘The Mist’. Slow as hell. Characters tend to do the “stand and stare” at oncoming danger even though they are intelligent enough to understand the social dynamics of their supermarket microcosm. Religion is, for some reason, portrayed as misguided and evil. Really? One of the good characters can’t take a second and whisper a prayer?

But the thing to talk about is the ending. The movie’s only true moment of horror comes right at the end. It is also its most contrived moment. And it also ends up being its clumsiest twist, the kind of thing I would’ve thought was brilliant had I come up with it as a sophomore in film school, then been embarrassed by it a year later. read more »

The first hurdle has been cleared. It’s kind of an amazing feeling, isn’t it? Yeah, I’m just as absolutely sappy about this election as you’d hope I wouldn’t be. It feels kinda like closing your eyes, wishing for something as hard as you can, and then that thing actually coming true.

Check it, world – America just elected Barack Hussein Obama. We’re ready to get back in the game of making the world a better place instead of just… ya know… ours.

I don’t so much believe that because of this, everything is going to be fine, though. It’s gonna be a long, long road.

Hopefully, by 2012, we’ll all be happy Barack was elected tonight.
